Dr. Caldwell performs arthroscopic surgery to professional golfer Dustin Johnson

August 14, 2020

American professional golfer and world No. 3, Dustin Johnson, underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee back in September 2019. The surgery was performed by our very own surgeon, Dr. George Caldwell in Fort Lauderdale. The routine surgery was to repair cartilage damage in Johnson’s left knee. Johnson has fully recovered and is anticipating his return to the PGA tour this fall. The former world No.1 made history last year becoming the fifth player in the past fifty years to reign in 20 PGA Tour titles before the age of 35. Johnson is one of many professional golfers who have undergone arthroscopic surgery including fellow former world No.1, Tiger Woods.

Dr. George Caldwell is part of the Florida Spine and Sport Specialists team. Dr. Caldwell is board certified in sports medicine and a member of the American Medical Association, the American College of Sports Medicine, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, NFL Team Physicians Society, Major League Baseball Physicians, the Arthroscopy Association of North American and the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine. In addition, Dr. Caldwell’s extensive experience includes serving as the Former Head Team Physician for the Miami Dolphins (NFL).
